Lisa Edelstein (born Lisa Edelstein) is an American actress best recognized for her role as House in Fox's medical drama House. Raised in Wayne within a conservative Jewish tradition, she moved into New York City at the age of 18 and began studying theater at Tisch School of Arts. Then, in the course of time, she became active in the club scene, and was able to make enough headlines that she was noticed by the press, simultaneously, she became conscious of the devastating effects of AIDS. The singer used her experience in the music industry and public recognition to make and appear in a musical of her own, Positive Me. Shortly thereafter she landed a job at MTV and was the host of Awake on the Wild Side. After the show ended, she started appearing in the film and television industry, beginning with small parts, but gradually establishing her place as an actor.
